"Nifty Jazz Warm" will be a great addition to your rehearsal routine! It’s short and packed with material spread over three choruses of the blues as follows:

• Chorus 1:
  -  Brass lip slurs
  -  Woodwind 8th note figures with bebop articulation
  -  Rhythm section assumes its role

• Chorus 2: students play the third or 7th of each chord as assigned.

• Chorus 3: DC to chorus 1

Nifty Jazz Warm Up accomplishes serval things at once:

• Students get warmed up (e.g. brass lip slurs).

• Students become habituated with the 12-bar blues.

• There’s an opportunity to dive deeper with an understanding of chord progressions and harmonies. The 3rds & 7ths in the second chorus is a sound jazz students should get in their ears. They can be assigned, reassigned, explored...change up the rhythm, etc.
